National Congressional Award Presented to Stevie Wonder (full story)

Stevie Wonder was presented the Library of Congress 'Gershwin Prize for Popular Song' Thursday at the White House.
President Barack Obama presented the award to Wonder, calling his music 'the soundtrack of his youth'. Obama praised Wonder's lengthy career and joked about Wonder being responsible for his courtship with Michelle Obama.
"I think it is fair to say that had I not been a Stevie Wonder fan, Michelle might not have dated me. We might not have married," said President Obama.
"The fact that we agreed on Stevie was part of the essence of our courtship."
In his acceptance speech, Wonder cited Dr. Martin Luther King, his mother, and his faith as his inspiration for his music. He also spoke in excitement about being able to experience Obama's election into office.
Wonder has won 25 Grammy Awards and is only the 2nd artist to receive the Gershwin Award. Paul Simon, the only other recipient was in attendance.
